Jan Barrick, M.Ed., founded Alpha Plus Learning Systems, Inc., in 1986 to help students improve their performance in school. Her mission quickly grew into helping schools improve their performance under the various state and federal accountability systems.
In 1990, when the Oklahoma Legislature created the state's first academic standards and required a new type of state assessments, the Alpha Plus team of educatores began developing ways to address the Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS) standards. Standards-based materials and assessments are regularly updated to meet changing state and federal mandates. Alpha Plus uses scientifically based research methods to help turn low-performing schools into high-progress ones. Teachers and administrators are trained to make data-driven decisions improving instruction and school performance on A-F Report Cards.
Since 1992, Alpha Plus Educational Systems, Inc. has been customizing services to meet the needs of urban, suburban and rural schools. We help leaders build capacity to meet higher standards under the NEW Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS).
