ALPHA PLUS OFFERS COST REDUCTION TO SCHOOLS

Alpha Plus Educational Systems, Oklahoma’s oldest school improvement firm, will lower costs to match the state’s expected budget reduction for common education next school year.

“Oklahoma’s ongoing budget crisis unfortunately will impact instruction at all schools,” explained Alpha Plus CEO Jan Barrick. “Every day, we are hearing the sad news of teacher layoffs and the tough decisions local school boards are making now and for next school year. We want to help our partner schools pay the bills.”

Projections from legislative leaders indicate a statewide average loss of funding for public schools will be approximately 5 percent next school year. Alpha Plus will reduce school-improvement costs by 5 percent.

Alpha Plus School Improvement is generally funded with federal Title I and II allocations for professional development (ongoing teacher and administrator training), interim assessment data services, and aligned remediation materials.

“Our goal is to give school leaders and board members some flexibility as they make difficult financial decisions this month and over the next several,” Barrick said. She emphasized that Alpha Plus will not reduce services to schools and is, in fact, providing new tools to help educators improve student achievement and implement the new Oklahoma Academic Standards.

Alpha Plus is able to make this offer because of low overhead as a small business in Oklahoma. Because Alpha Plus has not increased prices for products or services since Fiscal Year 2008, the company likely will be unable to make this offer in the future. School leaders have until May 15 to request the discount.
