Today, we honor Jacqueline Jackson, a second-grade teacher at Pershing Elementary in Muskogee. Ms. Jackson uses common formative quizzes to assess student mastery of OAS objectives in reading and math. To ensure her students are learning the academic standards of the state of Oklahoma, Ms. Jackson monitors their progress as part of preparing each child for third grade.
A BIG SHOUT OUT to Mr. Masoner, who teaches Grades 6, 7 and 8 math and science at Terral Public Schools in Jefferson County. His students are performing well on the OAS formative quizzes. After teaching 17 OAS Objectives so far this year, students’ running proficiency rates are well above par. Mr. Masoner is looking forward to how well his students do on their midyear benchmarks.
A big SHOUT OUT to the Empire Middle School teachers for their dedicated, hard work educating their students using the Oklahoma Academic Standards! The middle-level math and ELA teachers at Empire in Stephens County use the Alpha Plus Pacing Calendars to help them maintain a steady pace in their lessons and tp ensure academic growth. THANK YOU to Ms. Rochell, Ms. Talbot and Ms. Fields (pictured left to right) for all you do!
Alpha Plus Facilitator Chris Staton snapped a pic of Jacqueline Bennett, a first-grade teacher at Pershing Elementary in Muskogee, during on-site training. Ms. Bennett is doing amazing work with her students using our math curriculum to make sure they learn all OAS objectives.
This week, all students mastered Objective 1.N.1.4 in Number & Operations and are counting forward with and without objects from any number up to 100 by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, Ms. Bennett!
Rogers Elementary Assistant Principal Michele Davis asks questions during her team’s initial training with Jan Barrick (an Alpha Plus Facilitator and the CEO) while Mr. Durley, fourth-grade teacher, and other team members delve into the Success with OAS content and Alpha Plus Teacher PD Resources Binder. In coming weeks and months, educators will work together to address learning gaps relative to the Oklahoma Academic Standards.
