Alpha Plus' Standard Based Report Cards are available in English and Spanish.
This fall, Oklahoma’s own school-improvement team had its Standard-Based Report Cards translated into Spanish. These went live on Alpha Plus Online October 8, just in time for the end of the first nine weeks.
Alpha Plus is making their templates available for any Oklahoma teacher’s use in communicating goals and progress to students and their parents. The Standard-Based Report Cards describe what is expected to be learned each school year according to the Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS).
“Educators using Alpha Plus Online for current data on student performance have been sharing these reports in Parent-Teacher Conferences,” explained CEO Jan Barrick. “Since we know of no other such tool available in Spanish – or English, for that matter – we wanted to give them to any teachers who want to use them.”
Alpha Plus Standard-Based Report Cards include OAS objectives for reading/English Language Arts and mathematics in Grades 1-8 for which Alpha Plus educators have written formative assessments. Only OAS objectives that can be assessed in multiple choice are included; and, some objectives are split into smaller parts to help with learning progressions in the Alpha Plus Pacing Calendars.
“We are making our Word documents available, so teachers can add to the report card templates any other objectives they have taught and assessed,” Barrick explained. “We offer these because we know many teachers are new to the subject they are teaching and may need help explaining both expectations and student progress to parents.”
