CONGRATULATIONS Carnegie and Flower Mound - new Blue Ribbon Schools!

CONGRATULATIONS to two Alpha Plus Schools -- Carnegie Elementary School in Caddo County and Flower Mound Elementary School in Comanche County -- for being selected as National Blue Ribbon Schools.  These join previous honorees that continue using Alpha Plus tools: Central High (BRS 2012-13) and Bishop (BRS 2010-11).

Both schools qualified for the "Exemplary High Performing Schools" award because they have excelled in state test scores while at least 40% of students are economically disadvantaged. They are among 285 public and 50 private schools that will be honored in ceremonies on Nov. 9-10 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

"Some third-graders will fail the reading test, and others will be promoted in spite of it. But is it fair to retain students because they failed to test well on standards they were never taught?" - Jan Barrick
